"Study in Emerald Shades" by Neil Gaiman was penned for the themed anthology "Shadows Over Baker Street," released in 2003 in the USA. In this collection, Sherlock Holmes and his loyal companion Dr. Watson, envisioned by Arthur Conan Doyle, encounter the wonders and enigmas of H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu Mythos, considered a pioneer of the modern horror genre. Both Conan Doyle and Lovecraft left behind intricately detailed worlds that were later expanded upon and added to by other authors. Finally, in this anthology, these worlds collided.
The story received the "Hugo" award in 2004.
